Research has shown that students-especially those who struggle most with reading and writing-can make significant gains if they have intensive early instruction from teachers who understand the structure of the English language along with the added benefit of multisensory practices.
The methods we teach for effective intervention use widely accepted research-based instructional practices for language skills. However, they are radically different from and more intensive than those taught in standard teacher preparation courses. The curriculum adheres strictly to the Orton-Gillingham approach for teaching academic skills.
Principles of Instruction:
systematic, cumulative presentation
direct, sequential instruction
diagnostic teaching
simultaneous multisensory techniques
Core Content:

All instruction is consistent with the findings and recommendations of the National Reading Panel and IMSLEC guidelines.
Our Curriculum prepares teachers for all three tiers of the Response to Intervention model of prevention and intervention, with emphasis on Tier 3, where the need is greatest. Theory is balanced with regular demonstration lessons and hands-on experiences. Teaching materials can be adapted for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as adults, experiencing difficulties with reading, spelling and writing.
