Our mission is to provide professional development for teachers in a structured, sequential language curriculum using explicit systematic multisensory techniques to teach reading, writing, and spelling to children and adults with dyslexia and related written language disorders. Tragically, there are not nearly enough primary or secondary teachers who have this knowledge, and can provide students with the necessary instruction to be successful in school and to become literate members of society. Research has shown that with intensive early instruction by teachers knowledgeable in the structure of the English language, represented explicitly, sequentially, and systematically, students can make significant gains. We also know from clinical experience, multisensory methods linking listening, speaking, reading and writing enhance language learning. All students should have access to this essential literacy instruction. |
